Sacral Chakra

Sacral Chakra (Svadisthana):

This is an important Chakra since it is the storage of karma, and is all about change and how you deal with it. Relationships, creativity, finances, personal power and sexuality are effected. Remember passion is fuel to creativity, so if your feeling stuck in your personal or work life, coming up with new ideas, and being motivated you may want to pay attention to this Chakra.

Located: In sacrum, below navel and in your lower abdomen.

Means: Sweetness. Emotional identity, directed towards self gratification, pleasure, sexuality, procreation.

Organs/Area: Sex organs, liver, stomach, kidney, gallbladder, spleen, middle of spine, womb, and bladder.

Influence on the Body: Joyfulness, enthusiasm, reproduction, creativity, kidney problems, stiff lower back, menstruation.

Color: Orange.

Symbol: Up-turned crescent.

If Imbalanced:  Anger, greed, guilt, control, power, pelvic pain, urinary problems, libido issues and impotence.

Cures and how to balance:

  • Wear orange clothing or jewelry
  • Meditate/touch/carry a golden topaz stone
  • Light sandalwood, vanilla or almond incense
  • Listen to sounds of nature
  • Repeat the affirmation in your head “I respect my needs and the needs of others” during meditation
  • Eat oranges, mangos, passion fruit, carrots and cinnamon
  • Diffuse or wear sandalwood, rose, clove, orange or patchouli oil

What I do: I Light a candle, place my golden topaz stone on my alter, and put orange or clove oil on my wrists. I then set my timer for 12 minutes. I take a comfortable seat on my pillow, sit up nice and tall pressing the shoulder blades down the spine and close my eyes. I then place my hands in Dhyana Mudra, hands resting on your lap, palms facing upwards, on top of one another. I take 5 deep breaths and start chanting the affirmation “I respect my needs, and the needs of others” in my head. There are many different affirmations you can chant but this is my favorite one.

Stay tuned for next week moving on to the Solar Plexus Chakra!
